Characteristics

Flounder, which has a somewhat comical appearance, often appears on the dining table. The various flounder species caught throughout the year include marbled flounder, round-nose flounder, and willowy flounder. It is one of the white-meat fish that is rich in nutrients such as protein, Vitamin B1 and Vitamin D. As it is easy to digest, it is used for baby food. Cooking it with sweetened soy sauce is an easy way to enjoy it. A large flounder can be served up as sashimi and enjoyed for its delicate taste and texture.
